First Annual LVMC Photo Contest

2006 Rules & Regulations

Quarterly submissions

• All members are eligible to participate and can submit up to 2 photos per quarter in each category: people and nature. All submitted photos must be taken on an LVMC trip during the period stated below.

• First Quarter: (Pictures taken from January 1, 2006 – March 7, 2006.) To be considered, all photos must be received by a board member before the March board meeting (3/7). By vote, the board will pare the choices down to 5 in each category (nature and people). The 10 semi-finalists will be displayed in the March newsletter. The membership will be shown the semi-finalists at the March general meeting (3/28) and will have a chance to vote on the best in each category. The winners will receive a prize valued at approximately $10 and be eligible for the year-end contest.

• Second Quarter: (Pictures taken from March 8, 2006 – June 6, 2006.) To be considered, all photos must be received by a board member before the June board meeting (6/6). By vote, the board will pare the choices down to 5 in each category (nature and people). The 10 semi-finalists will be displayed in the June newsletter. The membership will be shown the semi-finalists at the June general meeting (6/27) and will have a chance to vote on the best in each category. The winners will receive a prize valued at approximately $10 and be eligible for the year-end contest.

• Third Quarter: (Pictures taken from June 7, 2006 – September 5, 2006.) To be considered, all photos must be received by a board member before the September board meeting (9/5). By vote, the board will pare the choices down to 5 in each category (nature and people). The 10 semi-finalists will be displayed in the September newsletter. The membership will be shown the semi-finalists at the September general meeting (9/26) and will have a chance to vote on the best in each category. The winners will receive a prize valued at approximately $10 and be eligible for the year-end contest.

• Fourth Quarter: (Pictures taken from September 6, 2006 – November 7, 2006.) To be considered, all photos must be received by a board member before the November board meeting (11/7). By vote, the board will pare the choices down to 5 in each category (nature and people). The 10 semi-finalists will be displayed in the November newsletter. The membership will be shown the semi-finalists at the November general meeting (11/28) and will have a chance to vote on the best in each category. The winners will receive a prize valued at approximately $10 and be eligible for the year-end contest.

Year End Finals

The 2 Winners from each quarter (4 nature shots and 4 people shots) will go head to head for the grand prize in each category. The members at the Christmas Party will vote and the winners will be announced that night. The grand prize for both will be a $50 gift card to REI, Sport Chalet, etc.

Miscellaneous details:

· A nature shot can be of a vista, a natural feature or a wild animal. When submitting, indicate where the shot was taken and what it is of. Also supply the date the photo was taken and the trip it is from.

· A people shot can be one or more people on a trip. When submitting, include the names of the people in the picture and a description of where they are and what they are doing. Also supply the date the photo was taken and the trip it is from.

· The quarterly and semi-final photos being voted on will be printed out (5x7) and placed on a table at the general meeting. Each member can vote only once in each category. A board member will “man the table” to keep track of the votes and catch the cheaters.
